Our Process: Window Treatment Measurements
As our windows settle, things shift, and custom window coverings are fitted to your window with careful measurements and installations. When you order custom Hunter Douglas window treatments from The Shade Shop, we will go into your home or business and measure every window that's receiving a window treatment.
We measure windows individually because even though the actual window may be the same as the one next to it, the window jambs and casing can have slight discrepancies from one to the other. Since we custom order each window treatment, we want to ensure the best fit for each individual window.
We measure your windows to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. We also measure each window in at least 6 places to verify that our measurements are correct. Since we have done this thousands of times, we know what to look for and where to measure so you get the best fit imaginable.
Our Process: Window Treatment Installation
Once your window treatments arrive, our install team will call to schedule a time that works best for you. As requested during our on-site consultation, our window treatment installers will remove and dispose of old window treatments . They also drill any new holes, and hang or insert the window treatment, checking to ensure it looks correct and is operating correctly. Professional window treatment installers inspect for anything that's out of order or unsafe and clean up afterward so you don't have anything to do. If you've ordered a motorized window covering, we'll ensure it's working correctly and show you how to use it.

We will also schedule a time for an on-site measure consultation to review everything in your space.
How long will it take for my custom window treatments to be ready?
Typically, it takes about 6 weeks until your shades, blinds, or shutters are ready for installation. However, factors like the availability of the fabric you select can impact that. When you order, we will provide an estimated timeline for installation.
Can I measure my window treatments myself?
Yes, we do encourage bringing in rough measurements for your showroom consultation. This will help with budget ranges, and ideas on covering multiple windows. For ordering, we provide this service and will use our numbers because it's essential to get correct.
How long does installation take?
We have a lot of practice installing window treatments, so we can do it efficiently and accurately. The precise length of time varies depending on the type of window treatments and overall scope of the project.
